An invitation for a physical journey with a deeply spiritual purpose.
There comes a moment when the familiar no longer satisfies—when you sense it’s time to go deeper, to step off the surface and into the sacred.
If you find yourself restless but ready, consider this your invitation.
Limited spaces are available for our next Pilgrimage.
What is Pilgrimage?
At its heart, pilgrimage is an invitation—a sacred journey where the road itself becomes the classroom.
Ruck the Way Pilgrimage is not a retreat or a race. It’s a shared walk through rugged terrain and open conversation, designed to help you slow your pace, shoulder weight with others, and listen for the voice of God along the way.
Each mile offers space for reflection, honest dialogue, and rediscovery—of identity, purpose, and wholeness.
Why We Walk
In a world driven by speed and noise, we choose a different rhythm. We believe God still meets people on the road between destinations, in the space where faith and life intersect.
Pilgrimage is about stepping away from the ordinary to make space for the sacred. It’s about walking with others, carrying what weighs us down, and letting God transform it into strength and wisdom.

A reasonable level of fitness is required to walk the entire 70 miles of the St. Cuthbert Way. Elevation is not terribly high, but there are uphill portions and days when we walk between 15 and 19 miles. Once you book a pilgrimage, we will be in touch with ideas of how to physically prepare for the walk.

For a hike in Scotland, waterproof boots and a waterproof jacket are required. Layers are key in this climate. A day pack and water bottle are also necessary. We use luggage transfer between stops, so you will only be carrying on your back that which you need for the day. A full list of required and helpful (but not required) kit will be sent to you once you book a pilgrimage.

No, you do not need to be of any particular belief to attend or benefit from a Ruck the Way pilgrimage! That said, we present the spiritual elements of the pilgrimage from a Christian viewpoint, use the Christian Bible for inspiration and include descriptions of Christian history along the way.

Part of the Ruck the Way experience is that we walk in community. Each day is spent on the trail with others and each evening we have shared meals and shared rooms. There is is free time to be alone at the end of the pilgrimage.
What to Expect
Physical Challenge: We’ll cover real miles and carry weight together. You don’t need to be an athlete, just willing.
Spiritual Depth: Daily reflections, prayer, and meaningful conversation guide the journey.
Community: You’ll walk with a small group of fellow pilgrims—listening, laughing, and sharing life together.
Guided Simplicity: The experience is intentionally simple, creating margin for God to move.
This is not about distance or destination. It’s about the Way—the rhythm of walking with Christ and one another.
